Nice to Meet You

"I believe in providing customized, less invasive treatments that lead to better outcomes, fewer complications, and faster recoveries."

Hi, I’m Dr. John McMahan, a Sinus & Sleep Surgeon at ADVENT. I grew up in South Carolina and attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia before going to medical school in Charleston. My path to medicine was shaped by a biology professor who encouraged me. Throughout my career, I’ve developed expertise in complex cases. I’ve worked extensively in treating nasal problems, chronic sinus issues, snoring, sleep apnea, and other nasal conditions, with a focus on delivering better outcomes through customized, less invasive approaches.

My work at ADVENT aligns with my philosophy of offering small, simple procedures that avoid unnecessary major surgeries. I focus on solutions like balloon sinuplasty, which lead to faster recoveries and better overall results for my patients. I’ve treated many patients with chronic sinus issues, snoring, sleep apnea, and other nasal conditions, always emphasizing education and empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.

I truly value building relationships with my patients, taking the time to understand their personal and family circumstances, and offering a holistic approach to treatment. I believe inoffice procedures are the future of medicine, and I’m excited to help my patients recover faster, with fewer complications, and achieve better outcomes.

All the staff were knowledgeable and kind. Any potential costs to me where up front and detailed. Proceeded with treatment and resolved my breathing issues after a short recovery. Very happy with the results. Sleep better, walk not getting winded and better quality of life in general.

It's nice to have an open airway! You don't know how bad it is until after the procedure is done. Highly recommend.

One of the most knowledgeable, helpful and empathic healthcare professionals that I’ve met in years. She was clear giving directions and also in stating what may be the next steps to take, I was very pleased with her professional manner and her human caring
