PROFESSIONAL

Practicing as a Physician Assistant has been a second career for Kelsey Hopping. A graduate of the Marketing Program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Kelsey worked in finance for three years before realizing her true calling was medicine. Her experience in the world of finance allowed her to see that she wanted to pursue a role where she could meaningfully impact others and her community.

A large part of her role is patient education, including educating patients on the role of a physician assistant. As part of their comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, assist in surgery, and write prescriptions. Within the physician-PA relationship, physician assistants exercise autonomy in medical decision making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. She extends the practice of Dr. Madan Kandula in multiple ways, including welcoming new patients, providing ongoing care to existing patients, offering pre- and post-operative care, and seeing patients on an urgent care basis.
